What is a green warehouse?
Put simply, a green warehouse is one that prioritises eco-friendly practices.
Whilst green warehousing is all about reducing energy consumption, we can streamline every aspect of your supply chain – from pallet storage and packaging to distribution and logistics.
If you’re serious about reducing your carbon footprint, consider storing your inventory at our green warehouse, just off the M62 at Westbrook, Warrington.
How can a green warehouse save money?
There are several ways you can save money by moving to greener practices, including the following:
· Reduced fossil fuel use
Since the transport industry is (by a mile) the largest contributor to environmental pollution, we’re investing in more electric vehicles (EVs) to complete deliveries.
We’re optimising delivery routes and consolidating orders into fewer shipments too – minimising our fuel costs and passing these savings on to you, our customers.
· Recycled packaging materials
Packing your items with recyclable materials is great for the environment. It eliminates the need to use raw materials and slowly reduces the effects of climate change.
What’s more, recycled packaging is typically more cost-effective and easier to produce – meaning you won’t need to shell out as much to parcel products up.
· Optimised storage
Our 135,000 sq. ft warehouse includes 9,000 sq. ft of office space and ample storage room for 15,000-20,000 pallets.
To make the most of our floor space, we can stack palletised products and use our electric forklifts to move them as and when required. We’ll also use our warehouse management systems to monitor the whereabouts of your inventory to reduce expense and waste.
· Inventory control
The John K. Philips team will ensure that your goods are properly packaged, labelled and stored at our green warehouse.
We’ll also use our warehouse management systems to prevent unforeseen damages and can save you the hassle and expense of replacing lost items. This will help to reduce the amount of waste you send to landfill too, again saving you money.
· Energy-efficient facilities
Our green warehouse has solar panels covering 85% of the roof. The electricity generated by these rooftop panels is used to power our warehouse, offices, and forklifts – helping to minimise our energy costs (which you get to benefit from too!).
To help lower carbon emissions and save money, we have energy-saving LED lighting inside our warehouse – keeping our facility well-lit for less.
