These days, more and more businesses are eager to reduce their carbon footprints, ensuring they operate as sustainably as possible.
Simple things like dotting recycling bins around your premises, using LED lighting, and switching from paper to electronic systems can help – but if you’re serious about making your business more eco-friendly, how about revising your warehouse strategies?
John K. Philips is proud to operate a green warehouse in Warrington, situated between junction 8 and junction 9 of the M62.
Here, we help everyone from e-commerce businesses to companies in the pharmaceutical and hospitality industries, and everyone in between, to streamline their operations while preserving our planet for future generations.
Read on to find out more about green warehousing and why your business can’t afford to miss out.
What makes our warehouse “green”?
Our green warehouse is no longer just a place to store goods until you’re ready to collect or distribute them – we prioritise eco-friendly practices and sustainable initiatives.
We do what we can to protect the environment and are delighted to have achieved an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) score and A+ EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating.
With solar panels covering 85% of the roof area of our 135sq. ft warehouse, we generate an extra 700kVA of power every year to help power our warehouse, office, and electric forklifts.
LED lighting is installed throughout our green warehouse – emitting fewer greenhouse gases and lasting up to 20 times longer than CFLs (compact fluorescent lights) and halogen bulbs.
Outside, we have 20 EV charging points installed, allowing our drivers to give their vehicles a full charge in preparation for the journey ahead. We also have more investment in EVs planned for 2025 and beyond – so keep your eyes peeled!
John K. Philips uses digital warehouse management systems to monitor the movements of goods and deliveries in and out of our green warehouse facility, allowing us to cut down on paper processes and waste.
